Google now is launching new eye wear technology. Who would’ve thought? Co-founder of Google, Surgey Brin has developed a smart phone like computing eye wear device under Google X (new name for Google Apps). The Google Glass aren’t actual glasses. They don’t contain a lens, just a small camera above the right eye, projecting a “heads up display”. In these ultra sleek light weight glasses, they perform more like a smart phone, responding to voice commands, taking pictures, recording video, and sending messages. The battery is located in the arms of the glasses which is also where the two microphones for voice command are located. These have yet to come out on the market officially, they are still adjusting the prototype. You can expect to pay around $1,500 for these bad boys once officially on the market. Maybe this could change things for Exclusive Eye Wear. We may have to start selling these to our customers who aren’t visually challenged (Humor). Of course we don’t want any accidents! Lets see how far this goes in our market.

If you have reached the young, but mature age of 40+ you may be experiencing trouble reading fine print. Normally optician suggest a bifocal lens that will accommodate your distance and near vision. For years patients had to get a lens that everyone could see that they needed a bifocal, not anymore! No one has to know if you need to wear eyeglasses or if you prefer to wear them for fashion. Progressive lenses provide you with all the features a regular bifocal or trifocal lens has and so much more.

Progresses lenses, sometimes called “no-line bifocals” provide a more natural correction of presbyopia, blurred near vision, than bifocal or trifocal prescription eyeglasses. By looking up you can see clearly across the room and in the distance, look ahead to view your computer in the intermediate zone and drop your gaze down to read fine print comfortably.

In the past patients were told that the had to get a larger frame to fit the Progressive Lens, not any more! Some progressive lenses are made specially for computer use which have a wider intermediate zone. Others have a larger reading portion. Optical professionals, like ourselves will assist you in choosing the perfect Progressive Brand to accommodate the many fashion styles and frame sizes you may select. Progressive lenses are also available in a wide selection of materials, including regular plastic, polycarbonate lenses and even glass (which is not recommended).

For first time Progressive Lens wearers, when you pick up your glasses, you my need some time to adapt to this amazing feature. Some patients take minutes to adapt while others may take a few days. Progressive lenses also go great with the optional Transitional and Anti-Reflective Coating features. For all bifocal lens wears who are wondering what is so great about a progressive lens, try it out and you will not be disappointed. Check out our blogs for more information on the different types of frames, lenses and features that may be best for you.

Polarized lenses are an outstanding and extremely helpful feature that reduces the sun’s glare thereby increasing visibility. This beneficial feature also protects the eye from the sun’s ultra violet rays. If you spend a majority of your time outside, you should certainly consider this lens feature.

Polarized sunglasses have been popular for years with boaters and fishermen who need to reduce reflected glare from the water surrounding them. Once the general public discovered their glare-reducing benefits, polarized shades became very popular among people simply seeking quality sun protection for their eyes. Besides boaters, outdoor enthusiasts who benefit the most from polarized sunglasses include skiers, bikers, golfers and joggers, all who may enjoy a clearer view along with elimination of glare. For most other sports and activities, polarized sunglasses offer great advantages. These sunglasses can be used for driving and, in fact, can reduce glare from a long, flat surface such as the hood of the car or the road’s surface. Polarized lenses contain a special filter that blocks this type of intense reflected light, reducing glare.

Polarized sunglasses also can be worn indoors by light-sensitive people, including post-cataract surgery patients and those continually exposed to bright lights. The precision in vision that it offers can prevent accidents that result in injuries. Exposing your eyes to direct sunlight can cause extreme harm to your sight. And today, many polarized lenses are available in combination with other features that can enhance outdoor experiences.

Anti-Reflective lens coating offers superior vision to everyone who wears eyewear. The coating is placed on the surface of a lens. The purpose of the coating is to reduce glare which can cause mild headaches, discomfort and obstruct vision. When it comes to vision, it is most advantageous to have this coating applied for the purpose of reducing glare from computer use and night driving. It will eliminate the eye fatigue and eyestrain which is caused while working, for long periods of time, on the computer. The coating also enhances night vision from glare that is produced from on coming traffic, traffic lights and signs.

Anti-Reflective lens coating also has a cosmetic advantage which allows no glare from light to be visible on your actual lenses, making your eyeglasses appear as if there are no lenses in the frame. The coating is an outstanding feature for photos. It reduces the glare from the cameras flash, once again making your eyewear appear as if there are no lenses in the frame. Anti-Reflective coating is a lens feature we highly recommend because of the benefits it offers. Just be sure to have a good lens cleaning cloth, particularly one that is made for anti-reflective coating (ARC). If you have any questions regarding this feature please feel free to message us in our “Contact” page.

People are usually uncertain when comes to choosing their spectacles. Eyewear was initially intended to serve as a correction for impaired vision, but was soon followed by a role in the world of fashion. When it comes to selecting sun or eyewear there are several factors that should be considered. Ultimately, the frame that you choose should represent your personality to some extent as well as compliment your facial features. As mentioned, people in most cases aren’t sure of what to choose when it comes to selecting their eyeglasses so Exclusive Eye Wear has decided to share a few tips when it comes to doing so:

#1. Its always best to have an idea of what look your trying to capture, which knowing before hand, will narrow down your options making the selecting process a lot simpler. Some people prefer the subtle look, others the glamorous effect that demands immediate recognition. I often say that the look a person chooses should in some way reflect that individuals out-going persona, reserved disposition or classy lifestyle. Always remember, when choosing a frame, consider the option that best defines and compliments you.

#2. Eyewear comes in so many different shapes and sizes, and in the same breath so does a persons facial structure. The best thing you can do when choosing the spectacle is focus on the shape that brings out the shape of your face. There are about 7 different face shapes. They are round, oval, oblong, base-down triangular, base-up triangular, diamond, and square.
First, find out which of the 7 shapes apply to you so that you have a understanding of which frame shape to lean more towards and why when choosing.
